Karol Nowak

Karol Nowak studied Environmental Protection and Management in the years 2020-2022. His main topic of interest was characterisation of symbiotic microorganisms in diverse insect populations. During the classes, he gained valuable knowledge about ecology, genetics, data analysis, and programming, which helped him in his scientific endeavours. Currently, Karol is a PhD student in the Symbiosis Evolution Group at the Jagiellonian University. He collaborates with leading experts in insect symbiosis and often travels abroad to learn and share the results of his research.

Allison Proszowska

Allison Proszowska studied Environmental Protection and Management in the years 2020-2022. Her best memory from the studies is conducting field research in Costa Rica, as well as many of the other field classes in Kraków, and learning about the grant writing process in environmental sciences. Allison’s main research interest was in environmental catalysis as a climate change mitigation strategy, and she presented her thesis work at the Polish Catalytic Conference in 2022. After graduating, Allison works as a sustainability analyst at ABB, and is also studying philosophy, where she is focusing on the ethical implications of climate change.

Kseniia Khmelevska

Kseniia Khmelevska studied Environmental Protection and Management from 2020 - 2022. She admits data analysis and grant writing as the most useful of studied, while first contact with Great Tit hatchlings as the warmest memory of these 2 years. Following her interest in environmental psychology gained during studies, she moved to Canada, where joined United Nations Environmental Equity Team and prepares PhD application for the following year.

Failasuf Aulia Nugroho

Failasuf Aulia Nugroho studied Environmental Protection and Management in the years 2018-2020. His main scientific interest was the response of paramecium to microplastics in the water. He considers that statistics and water environment management were the most useful of what he learned during his studies. He got a grant for the second International Tatra Hydrological Workshop on Sustainable water resources management in high mountains in the Baltic Sea Region. After graduating, He returned to Indonesia. He currently works as a private molecular and diagnostics laboratory manager.

Alicja Rutkowska

Alicja Rutkowska studied Environmental Protection and Management in years 2021-2023. Her greatest memory from the course was the tropical ecology trip to Borneo and seeing the wonderful fauna there such as many species of butterflies. Her master’s project was carried out under a wider grant received for the project of testing aging on antioxidative capacity and oxidative stress. After graduating, she is currently undertaking a PhD in the UK.
