Information about continuation of the classes during the summer semester

Dear Students of the Ecology and evolution!

Due to the prolonged epidemic of Coronavirus and the fact that we are not able to predict at the moment when the University will return to normal functioning, I would like to assure you that we are doing our best to make sure that the realization of the classes in the current semester is carried out according to the schedule, but in the form of remote teaching. Everything seems to indicate that we will finish the semester, together with the examination session, using IT techniques and distance learning methods.

The reports received and feedback from you show that in most cases classes are delivered on schedule, using the available remote learning platforms. Whenever difficulties, irregularities, lack of implementation or too much workload are reported, we react individually and according to the problem. I have asked the course coordinators to provide you with a timetable for the further implementation of the classes, including credits and exams, as soon as possible.

Currently,  employees of the Institute are undergoing intensive training in information technology (e. g. MS Forms)  to conduct exams and tests. I assume that the credits and exams will take place on the dates previously set, in the case of obligatory courses on the date of the examination session (15-29 June 2020), and in the case of optional courses even earlier. It is likely that some subject coordinators will modify the verification of the expected learning outcomes in order to adapt them to the current form of the teaching and content provided.

The defense of the master's theses is planned to be carried out in accordance with the previously foreseen schedule (June, July), using information technology (e.g. MS Teams).

It is likely that it will be possible to extend the realization of classes at the Jagiellonian University for the holiday period. If the possibility of your presence at the classes is re-established, practical and field classes will be implemented first. If such a possibility is not restored, the classes will be carried out remotely if possible or in exceptional cases, their realization will be postponed to the next academic year. I hope, however, that such situations will be few and far between.

In this strange and difficult for all of us time I wish you good mood, health and successful finish of the semester. If you have any questions or need help or assistance please contact studia.inos@uj.edu.pl  (our secretary office) or directly me janusz.fyda@uj.edu.pl (Head of the Ecology and evolution).

With best wishes,

        Janusz Fyda
